What have we got here???
AIRFRAME
CH701SPÂ (Plans Serial Number 7-8267)
This is it! Its been described as an 80% complete airframe. It has been signed off by LAA inspectors but I am sure there is work to do, work to re-do and work that will need a work-around!

ENGINE
Rotax 912 A2 80hp (Serial Number 4410602)
Its not new - in fact its got 1300hrs on it making it quite a well used engine. However its been completely reconditioned and signed off. It has a new oil cooler, radiator and exhaust...so things are looking better!

ROTAX 912 RING MOUNT
NR 886563 Â S/N 17.0572
Its a frame to suspend / mount your engine to the aircraft. In fact it turns out its a bit more than that...this is actually quite a high tech bit of kit that makes sure all the forces are beautifully balances whilst the big fan at the front spins around. Its probably a bit more technical than that but it must be good because this piece of welded tubing cost nearly £850.

PROPELLER
Woodcomp Classic 3 Blade Ground Adjustable
This is the prop. It seems to be the standard one that is allowed to be used with this aircraft by the CAA. I will add more as I work it all out!

MGL IEFIS
Explorer Lite (Serial Number iEL180800296)
The explorer lite is a decent bits of kit with built in sensors and AHRS = lower cost and simplified installation.
They also have flexible engine/fuel monitoring with full audio and visual alarms - no need for extra engine instruments = cheaper and less weight!

EARTHXÂ BATTERY
ETX 900Â LiFePO4 Â Battery
These ETX Hundred series (ETX680C, ETX680, ETX900 and the ETX1200) batteries are recommended for your primary engine aircraft battery. This does a surprising amount for a small instrument. It has the main flight instruments, ALT, ASI and VSI. On top of this it has the main engine info - RPM, fuel flow, electrical status etc. Amazing!

IGNITION SWITCH

This item is one of those products that has been so beautifully engineered that you it just oozes quality! When I looked up the price for my inventory blog I was shocked at how expensive it was but I also understood why! I really like my ignition switch (can't believe I just said that!)

RAY ALLEN GRIPS
G205Â (P1) and G101Â (Pax)
IThe Ray Allen grips are the nicest quality you can get - it probably was finally swayed me to hand over the cash
G101 Stick Grip
The G101 grip comes pre-wired and features a momentary contact, 50 milliamp, SPST switch on top that can be used as a PTT button.

RAY ALLEN ELECTRIC TRIM

The Ray Allen electric trim system is well suited to light 'experimental' aircraft and come with the servo, push-rod, rocker switch and an LED trim indicator.
The afore mentioned Ray Allen grips will be able to directly control the trim too which will be handy!

FUNKE TRANSCEIVER (RADIO)

This is a nice modern, lightweight 8.33khz Transceiver that does the job - you can talk and receive messages from ATC. The extra bonus is that this also acts as an intercom - so hopefully there will be no need to install an extra device saving real estate and adding lightness and simplicity.

FUNKE TRANSPONDER

This device is a transponder - if you want to get technical it has Mode A/C and S and is ADSB ready. It does it all!

MGL RDAC (ENGINE MONITOR)

This unit is an engine monitor that connects to the various sensors (mainly thermocouples) and then communicates this info to the iEFIS. It has a a MAP sensor built in and works perfectly with the iEFIS and the Rotax 912 engine - the perfect match

MGL MAGNETOMETER
SP-6
A magnetometer is an electronic compass. It sits somewhere in the airframe well away from interference from other magnetic sources (other avionics) and tells the iEFIS and Blaze standby instruments which way we are heading - useful!

FALCON VERTICAL CARD COMPASS

It's a non certified compass. No liquid so no leaking. It works in a different way to what I'm used to but I'm sure I'll get used to it....in fact it should really be more intuitive. It has a small light which can either be hooked up to the aircraft power supply or left off.
